Lock Your Bike is written by me, Jamie Carruthers.

I am a London commuter determined to keep my bicycle in my possession.  When buying my bike locks I spoke to many city-hardened cyclists and read everything I could on the subject, and decided to share my findings through this site in an effort to help prevent you and your trusted steed parting company.

I would love to hear your comments and suggestions – please email jamie@lockyourbike.org.uk

I reckon it might be an idea to have a look at ART’s website:

With the huge bicycle theft problem in the Netherlands, it’s likely that their testing should be a useful means of comparison and seeing just how good our Sold Secure rating system is.

Hey Jamie,

I am am rapping my head trying to find a neat way to attach a U-lock to my Brompton when I am cycling and not using it. After the fold, there is very little space left to attach anything to the frame so usually you have to carry your lock in a bag..

Am I right in thinking that the U-Lock is all round most secure lock availble on the market, just generally speaking? I plan to modify one of these locks to fit.

U locks are good, just check the diameter out and if they have anti twist technology built in.

Kryptonite has just brought out a lighter chain better suited for cycles.
